Hoang Nguyen was directly involved in various investment activities, including the acquisition of Movi, a local fintech company, by Sovico Group, a leading local diversified conglomerate; and the divestment of OK System Polska, the second largest tech-based provider of employee fringe benefits solutions (gym and fitness sports cards) in Poland to Medicover AB, a listed multinational healthcare group headquartered in Sweden. He has recently joined ThinkZone Ventures as a Partner and Head of Investment.

He sets future expectations for the new position: “I would like to contribute a small part in supporting startup founders and their teams to deliver innovative products and services. Hopefully, most of them will have a positive impact on everyone involved.”

He was inspired by ThinkZone Ventures' aim to "become the leading VC firm in Vietnam with the largest scale of local resources for mentoring and developing startups to a global scale". Hoang also shares the same vision to further develop ThinkZone' as one-of-a-kind VC backed by successful entrepreneurs to nurture more successful entrepreneurs.

He said: "I want to help transform TZ into a go-to early-stage investment partner for foreign investors, whose support and expertise will massively contribute to taking Vietnam's startup ecosystem to the next level." This reflects his goal of strengthening ThinkZone’s mission.

Mr. Do Bui, Founding Partner & CEO at ThinkZone shared: “I am very excited to announce that Hoang has joined our team at ThinkZone. Hoang has a remarkable background in several key areas, such as finance, investment, and mergers and acquisitions. He has served in high-level positions at Deloitte Vietnam Financial Advisory - a branch of the world’s largest professional services network in terms of revenue and number of professionals, and Sovico Group - Vietnam’s leading diversified conglomerate. ThinkZone has an extensive network of resources and local support to provide unfair advantages to its portcos. However, there are other challenges that many venture funds and startups overlook, such as financial management and figuring out how to exit successfully. So, I am confident that Hoang’s expertise would help ThinkZone overcome these challenges.”

ThinkZone Ventures is currently raising its 3rd fund, which will focus on early-stage startups with global potential. The fund is expected to close in 2023. Hoang’s distinguished track record in global enterprises, his engagement in international ventures with foreign startups, and especially his global network have endowed him with the expertise and acumen to advance ThinkZone’s vision of “Go Global”. His experiences are instrumental in raising ThinkZone Fund III, which prioritizes foreign resources.
